THE SHORT ANSWER

HubSpot's free CRM is free with no expiry for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, covering contacts, deals, email tracking, forms, live chat and free invoices. It stops at a third user, a second pipeline, unbranded emails, quotes and sequences. For client work from proposal to paid invoice, our #1 pick is Workspace369, from $29 a month.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

- HubSpot Free CRM is $0 for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, with no expiration date and no credit card required.
- The free tier has one pipeline per object type, 3 email templates, 1 meeting link and 10 custom properties, with HubSpot branding on forms, live chat and the meeting link.
- Invoices are free in HubSpot; quote software needs Revenue Hub Professional, and a Revenue Seat there lists at $95 a month.
- Sales Hub Starter lists at $20 a seat; on October 25, 2026 new customers were offered $10 a seat monthly or $7 with an annual commitment.
- For a client-work business, our #1 pick is Workspace369 (Cadet $29, one seat); Zoho CRM Free covers three users at $0.

### What changed in this guide

- Oct 25, 2026 — Prices re-read on 2026-10-25: HubSpot free-tools limits, seat prices, quotes and invoices pages, the Starter offer and Workspace369 are unchanged. The Zoho CRM figures and the Sales Hub Professional onboarding fee could not be read again and keep their earlier dates.
- Oct 14, 2026 — Rewritten to the buyer-guide format. HubSpot free-tools limits, seat prices, quotes and invoices pages and the Starter offer re-read on 2026-10-14, Zoho and Workspace369 the same day. Added a method section, numbered best-for entries with limits, trial and card terms and more FAQs. Removed an outdated Workspace369 plan-gate claim: deposits on acceptance and proposal tracking now sit on every plan. Sales Hub sequences and the onboarding fee are still the October 8 reading.
- Oct 8, 2026 — First review pass with HubSpot Free, Starter and Professional limits and prices.

The companion video reflects its original recording. This article carries the updates listed here.

Yes, HubSpot’s free CRM is really free: up to 2 users, up to 1,000 contacts and no expiration date, with no credit card required. It handles contacts, deals, tasks, email tracking, a meeting link, forms, live chat and even invoices. It stops at a third user, a second pipeline, emails and forms without HubSpot branding, quotes and automated follow-up sequences, all of which need paid seats. For a team of one or two logging leads and deals, it is enough. For a client-work business that runs on proposals, deposits, projects and invoices, our #1 pick is Workspace369, from $29 a month. We read the vendor pages between October 14 and 25, 2026; test your own limits with our [free trial checklist](https://clientworkhq.net/tools/trial-checklist/).

## What HubSpot Free CRM is (and is not)

HubSpot says its free CRM is “100% free, with no expiration date.” It is a free edition, not a trial: the free tools are lighter versions of HubSpot’s paid features on the same CRM, so upgrading later keeps your contacts and deals where they are. [HubSpot free CRM](https://www.hubspot.com/products/crm)

It is not a client-delivery tool. It does not run projects or a client portal, and the move from a won deal to the work and the bill happens outside it. What you give up for the price is reach and polish: few users, contacts, templates and pipelines, and HubSpot’s logo on what clients see. Our [HubSpot alternatives guide](https://clientworkhq.net/blog/hubspot-alternatives/) compares what to move to.

## How we compared these tools

We compared HubSpot’s free and paid tiers with two alternatives by reading each vendor’s own published pages between October 14 and 25, 2026, in US dollars. The Zoho CRM page could not be read again on October 25 and is from October 14.

1. **Free-tier limits.** Users, contacts, pipelines, templates, meeting links and custom properties, from HubSpot’s free-tools catalog page read 2026-10-25.
2. **Plan gates.** Which tier unlocks quotes, invoices, sequences and branding removal, from HubSpot’s quotes and invoices pages (2026-10-25) and its Sales Hub plan table (2026-10-08).
3. **Seat cost.** Per-seat list prices from HubSpot’s catalog and a three-seat total, with the new-customer offer noted but not used for ranking.
4. **Trial and card terms.** Whether the page states a trial or card requirement for each option.
5. **Workflow coverage.** Whether the pages list proposal, deposit, project and invoice steps for client work.

**What we did not test.** We did not sign up for, time or load-test any of these tools, and we did not measure speed, mobile apps, deliverability or support. We have no customer ratings to report. Sales Hub sequences and the onboarding fee were last read on October 8 and not re-checked. Rankings are an editorial judgment from published plans, and vendors change plans without notice. Check the sources at the end before you buy.

## The best HubSpot plan and alternatives in 2026

The order follows documented fit for a reader weighing HubSpot Free: the free tier first, the paid step second, then two alternatives. It is not a ranking by price.

### 1\. HubSpot Free CRM, best for one or two people logging leads and deals

The free CRM covers contacts, companies, deals, tasks and activities. You can connect Gmail or Outlook, send one-to-one email from a record, track opens and save templates. It adds one personal meeting link, forms that add contacts, live chat, a shared inbox and a QuickBooks Online sync. Invoices are free: “Invoices are a free feature in HubSpot,” with payment links that need a connected payments account. [HubSpot invoices](https://www.hubspot.com/products/revenue/invoices), [free-tools catalog](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog/free-tools)

The limits arrive quickly: 2 users, 1,000 contacts in free accounts, one pipeline per object type, 3 email templates, 1 meeting link and 10 custom properties, with HubSpot branding on forms, live chat and the meeting link. Quotes are not part of it. A workable setup is to make the one pipeline New lead, Proposal sent, Signed, Paid; spend the three templates on an intro, a proposal follow-up and an invoice reminder; and turn on the QuickBooks sync early.

**Best for:** a solo consultant or two-person team that fits within the limits and accepts the branding. [HubSpot free CRM](https://www.hubspot.com/products/crm)

### 2\. HubSpot Sales Hub Starter, best for removing branding and adding pipelines

Starter lists at $20 a seat a month. On October 25, 2026, HubSpot’s Starter page offered new customers up to 65% off for a limited time: $10 a seat monthly or $7 with an annual commitment paid up front. HubSpot’s CRM page shows a “starts at $15” figure, so confirm the price at checkout, and budget on the $20 list price because the offer can end. [HubSpot Starter](https://www.hubspot.com/products/crm/starter)

Starter is the cheap upgrade for a two- or three-person team that wants clean branding and more pipelines. It does not add HubSpot’s quote software, and sequences, the automated follow-up emails, start on Sales Hub Professional (read October 8), where a Sales Seat lists at $100 and the page lists a one-time onboarding fee. The catalog lists a Core Seat on Professional at $50 and a Revenue Seat with Professional functionality at $95. [HubSpot catalog](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog)

**Best for:** a small team that has outgrown Free’s branding and pipeline limits but still works inside a sales CRM. [Sales Hub pricing](https://www.hubspot.com/pricing/sales)

### 3\. Zoho CRM Free, best for three users at no cost

If you want to stay on a free sales CRM, Zoho CRM’s free edition supports up to 3 users with leads, contacts, deals, tasks, events and workflow automation. Its page says there is no trial period and no credit card is required. Paid editions are Standard, Professional and Enterprise, shown at $14, $23 and $40 per user a month; we could not confirm whether those are monthly or annual rates.

The limit is that it is a lighter CRM with no proposals, projects or client portal, so the same handoff problem returns when the work starts. Check reporting and workflow behavior against your actual process first.

**Best for:** a three-person team that needs organized relationships and follow-up at no subscription cost. [Zoho free CRM](https://www.zoho.com/crm/free-crm.html)

### 4\. Workspace369, best for client work from proposal to paid invoice

Our #1 pick is Workspace369 when delivery and billing are the business; it ranks fourth here because this review is about HubSpot’s free CRM. Its pricing page, read October 25, lists proposals clients accept and sign through a link, contracts, deposits on acceptance, proposal engagement tracking, intake forms and requests, projects, a client portal and invoices with payment links on every plan, and clients pay online by card through Stripe. Email workflows run on every plan, up to 3 active on Cadet.

Cadet is $29 a month ($23.25 billed yearly) for one seat. Voyager is $74 for two seats and adds a shared inbox and texting; extra seats are $10 from Voyager. Specialist is $149 for 10 seats and lists the full CRM, expenses and basic accounting. Cadet has limits: one seat and up to 3 active email workflows. It is not a marketing platform, and unlike HubSpot Free it has no free tier. The 14-day trial asks for a card to start. [Workspace369 vs HubSpot](https://workspace369.com/compare/hubspot/?utm_source=clientworkhq.net&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=hubspot-free-crm-review)

**Best for:** consultancies and small agencies that run on proposals, deposits, projects and invoices. [Workspace369 pricing](https://workspace369.com/pricing/?utm_source=clientworkhq.net&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=hubspot-free-crm-review)

## Side-by-side comparison

Prices are US dollars, from vendor pages read on 2026-10-25 unless noted (Zoho CRM: 2026-10-14).

| Option | Price | Users and limits | Key gate | Trial and card | Limitation |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| HubSpot Free CRM | $0 | 2 users, 1,000 contacts | Quotes need Revenue Hub Professional | Free edition; no card | Branding; 1 pipeline; 3 templates |
| HubSpot Sales Hub Starter | $20 per seat list | Paid per seat | Removes branding; no sequences | Starter: trial not stated on the page read; Free needs no card | Quotes and sequences still need Professional |
| Zoho CRM Free | $0 | 3 users | Paid editions add more automation | No trial; no card | Lighter CRM; no delivery tools |
| Workspace369 | Cadet $29 | 1 seat on Cadet; 2 on Voyager | Texting and shared inbox start on Voyager | 14 days; card to start | Cadet: 1 seat, 3 workflows |

## Which option fits your use case

| If you are… | Start with | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A team of one or two logging leads and deals | HubSpot Free CRM | Free, no expiry, free invoices |
| Needing unbranded email, forms and more pipelines | HubSpot Sales Hub Starter, $20 list | Removes branding; raises pipeline and template limits |
| A third person joining, still at no cost | Zoho CRM Free | Three users |
| Selling proposals with deposits, then delivering | Workspace369 Cadet, $29 | Proposal, deposit, project and invoice on one record |
| Running marketing as the engine | Stay in HubSpot | Forms, email and landing pages on one CRM |

## What does HubSpot cost beyond Free?

Per-seat list prices from HubSpot’s Product & Services Catalog, read October 25, 2026:

| Seat | List price per seat, per month | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free tools | $0 | Up to 2 users |
| Core Seat, Starter | $20 | New-customer offer was $10 monthly |
| Core Seat, Professional | $50 | Access to Professional features |
| Revenue Seat, Professional | $95 | Where HubSpot lists its quote software |
| Sales Seat, Professional | $100 | Sequences; onboarding fee listed on October 8 |

| People | Sales Hub Starter | Workspace369 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 2 | $40 | $74 (Voyager) |
| 3 | $60 | $84 (Voyager + 1 seat) |
| 5 | $100 | $104 (Voyager + 3 seats) |

This is illustrative list-price arithmetic that compares different products. HubSpot’s seat rules for mixed teams were not checked, so price your own team with HubSpot before buying.

## Where a client-work business outgrows HubSpot Free

Picture a three-person consultancy. A lead books a discovery call and asks for a proposal. On Free, the contact, the deal and the invoice all work. Then the walls arrive in order: the third consultant needs a paid seat; the proposal the client should review and accept needs Revenue Hub Professional; follow-up after the proposal is manual without sequences; and the work itself, with a deposit, a project, files and progress updates, sits outside a sales CRM. Every handoff between tools is a place where a deposit or a date gets missed.

## Moving from HubSpot Free

1. **Export contacts and companies** from HubSpot as a CSV; the free tools include CRM export.
2. **Import the CSV** into the new tool and map the columns. In Workspace369, CSV client import is on every plan.
3. **Keep HubSpot until your open deals close.** It is free, so there is no rush to cancel.
4. **Recreate your templates and follow-ups** in the new tool, then test one with a real lead.

Run the same checklist on the replacement as you would on any CRM.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is HubSpot CRM really free?

Yes. HubSpot’s free CRM costs nothing for up to 2 users and up to 1,000 contacts, has no expiration date and needs no credit card. Paid features, more users and higher limits cost extra.

### Is HubSpot CRM free forever?

HubSpot describes it as “100% free, with no expiration date.” It is a free edition, not a trial, and upgrading later keeps your data in place.

### What are the HubSpot free CRM limitations?

Up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, one pipeline per object type, 3 email templates, one personal meeting link and 10 custom properties, with HubSpot branding on forms, live chat and the meeting link. Quotes and sequences need Professional editions.

### HubSpot Free vs Starter: what’s the difference?

Starter, $20 a seat a month at list price, removes HubSpot branding and raises the limits on pipelines, templates and meeting links. It does not add sequences or HubSpot’s quote software, which sit on Professional editions.

### How much is HubSpot Starter?

Sales Hub Starter lists at $20 a seat a month. On October 25, 2026, HubSpot offered new customers a limited-time discount: $7 a seat with an annual commitment paid up front, or $10 a seat month to month.

### Does HubSpot Free include quotes and invoices?

Invoices, yes: HubSpot says they are a free feature, and payment links work with a connected payments account. Its quotes page says quote software is available with Professional and Enterprise editions of Revenue Hub.

### Is HubSpot a good CRM for small business?

For a small team whose growth runs on forms, email and a sales pipeline, HubSpot Free is a strong start at no cost. For a service business that lives on proposals, deposits, projects and invoices, compare a client-work tool such as Workspace369, our #1 pick.

## Is HubSpot Free CRM worth it?

For the right business, yes. **Stay on Free** if you are a team of one or two logging leads and deals and fine with HubSpot’s branding. **Upgrade inside HubSpot** when sales and marketing are the business and you want Starter’s branding removal or Professional’s sequences. **Move to a client-work tool** when a third person joins, clients need proposals to accept and pay, or follow-up should run itself. Not sure? Start on Free; it costs nothing to find out where it stops for you. If the Workspace369 plans fit, you can [start the 14-day free trial](https://workspace369.com/pricing/?utm_source=clientworkhq.net&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=hubspot-free-crm-review) and run one real engagement through it.
