Bonsai or HoneyBook? On list prices, Bonsai is cheaper. But the difference that matters is what your client sees. This is Bonsai versus HoneyBook for freelancers. What each costs, where each one wins, and who each one fits.

I'll show where Bonsai and HoneyBook each win, and you decide. Stay to the end for a simple rule that picks one for you in thirty seconds. Start with price, because that's what everyone checks first. These are list prices from each pricing page, checked October thirteenth, twenty twenty-six. Bonsai's Essentials plan is the one with invoices, contracts and a client portal.

Twenty-five dollars a month, or nineteen billed yearly. Bonsai's cheaper Basic plan has no invoices, contracts or portal, so it isn't a fair match for anything here. HoneyBook's Starter plan is thirty-six dollars a month, or twenty-nine billed yearly. Its Essentials plan adds automations and text reminders, at forty-nine yearly. Here's what most comparisons skip: the yearly total.

Billed yearly, that's two hundred twenty-eight dollars on Bonsai, against three hundred forty-eight on HoneyBook. On price, Bonsai wins. Workspace369 starts at twenty-nine a month, or about twenty-three billed yearly, so it sits between the two. Now, what does your client actually see? For a freelancer, that decides it.

Here's the whole client journey on Workspace369: a proposal, a contract, an invoice, and a portal. All of it in one place. The proposal is one link. No account, no download. Your client reads the scope, sees the total, and says yes.

Then the contract. Your client signs through a link, on a phone if they like, and you can see when it's done. Then the invoice. Amount due, due date, and a pay button, all on one page, in your logo and your colors. And the portal.

Invoices, contracts and files wait in one place, so nobody digs through old email. Every one of those opens from a link, on a laptop or a phone, with nothing for your client to install. Your client never makes an account to view a proposal or an invoice. That's one less excuse to leave the email unopened. What do you give up with each one?

Bonsai charges per seat, and its top plan needs three users. For one freelancer that never matters. It does if you hire. HoneyBook's Starter plan limits you to two live lead forms, and one session type in the scheduler. Fine for a start, tight when you grow.

Workspace369 costs more than Bonsai on paper, so check the pricing page for what each plan includes before you start. Where is Bonsai stronger? Honestly, price. It's the cheapest way into a full client flow, and time tracking is part of every Bonsai plan. If you bill hourly, that matters.

Trials differ too. Bonsai's is seven days, HoneyBook says thirty, and Workspace369's is fourteen. If you bill hourly and want the leanest setup, Bonsai deserves a real look. And where is HoneyBook stronger? Its strength is the scheduler and automations.

Both sit on its Essentials plan, along with text reminders. Reviewers like it: four point seven out of five on Capterra, from six hundred ninety-one reviews, as of September thirtieth. It has also gotten pricier. HoneyBook's yearly entry price was sixteen dollars in a January twenty twenty-five snapshot. It's twenty-nine now.

One more thing your client notices: the page should look like you, not like your software. Pick a theme, an accent color and your logo once, and every page your client opens carries them. What should you check before you pay for any of them? One, which plan has contracts and the portal. Bonsai's cheapest plan doesn't.

Two, how long the trial is. Three, the price history. Look up last year's price on the Wayback Machine before you commit to a yearly plan. Four, export. Make sure you can get your clients and invoices out as a file, whichever tool you pick.

Then run one real client through it, from proposal to paid invoice, before you move everyone. So, which one? Three honest answers. Want the lowest price for invoices, contracts and a portal, and you track hours? Bonsai.

Book sessions, run automations, and work with creatives who expect a HoneyBook link? HoneyBook. Want one tool for proposals, contracts, invoices, retainers, time and a portal, on pages that look like your brand? Workspace369 does all of that. Recurring invoices and retainers are on every plan, and so are the branded pages.

Bonsai for price. HoneyBook for sessions and automations. Workspace369 for the whole client flow, in your own brand. There's a fourteen-day free trial, and the link is in the description. Next up, the best invoicing software for freelancers.

It's on screen now.
